Do’s and Don’ts for a Strong Proposal
Do’s :
- Pick a Topic You're Passionate About – Your enthusiasm and expertise will shine through.
- Keep Your Title Clear and Direct – A strong title should make it immediately clear what your talk is about.
- Define Your Core Message –Summarize the key takeaway of your talk in one sentence.
- Be Detailed and Specific – Give enough information to help reviewers make an informed decision.
- Write a Strong Description – Clearly state:
- The challenge or problem your talk addresses.
- Your approach or solution.
- What attendees will learn and take away.
Don’ts :
- Avoid Vague Descriptions – Instead of saying, "I'll talk about interesting trends in testing", describe exactly what you will cover.
- Don't Hide Your Topic – Make sure your title and abstract clearly reflect your talk's focus.
- Avoid Overloading Your Talk – Focus on one strong idea rather than trying to cover too many topics.
- No Sales Pitches – While tools can be discussed, your talk should focus on solutions, strategies, and industry insights, not a product demo.
- Don't Submit a Low-Effort Proposal – Take the time to craft a compelling and well-structured submission.
